Silentium Altum by *IArtifexI "Silentium Altum, means Deep Silence in Latin." Let us not greet the New Year with a whimper or a bang, but instead in the Deep Silence of our memories. Remembering with Love those who are with us, and those who have gone before us. Happy New Year everyone!

I am very proud of this piece, overall it took me 20 hours to complete and all of it is painted besides the two terrestrial planets and the asteroids (the gas giant was painted). I created this for Inner-Space's "Silence" contest and I'm hoping it is good enough to win! :D

EDIT: AHA! IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN! I GOT 1ST PLACE ^_^ -> [link]

The name of the piece is Silentium Altum, which means Deep Silence in Latin.

Silentium Altum is such a beautiful piece of artwork. I love the shades of blues that are in this piece. What really got my attention with this piece though is the middle. Oh, that middle! I just had to see it in full view instead of just the old thumbnail version. I simply wanted to find out just what it would look like then. I really like how it is opening up and the sun or whatever planet is coming through. That is really neat. I am just amazed by that cause I don’t recall ever seeing that done before. You have managed to do a very a great job on this piece.
